Video 5 - steps for 21st century learning

This video is interesting as it talks about the 3 C skills for the 21st century learning - competition, cooperation and collaboration.

In light of character development and pupil engagement, our school is on the path to develop two of the three mentioned skills- cooperation and collaboration with the implementation of cooperative learning strategies in the classroom.

Through project work, teambuilding camps and the infusion of moral values into the curriculum, our pupils will have the chance to cooperate as well as colloborate and work together to be active learners.

At the microlevel in the classroom, teachers can also do their part to help pupils achieve those 3 C skills by explicitly teaching pupils how to develop and use those skills. Also, they can carry out teambuilding as well as classbuilding activities to ensure a community of learners in the classroom space. Lastly, teachers can encourage healthy competition in pupils themselves among their peers to spur them to develop their fullest potential.

Video 4 - Vision 2015

This video is about the potential of our children which can be achieved if the teacher makes an effort to nurture and develop them.

I feel that in GMSP, our focus is not only on academic success and achievement but one of our strategic thrusts is also on character development. Developing the character of our pupils is also important in helping them achieve their fullest potential. This is because instilling good character traits and values in pupils may eventually spur pupils to achieve success in other means, be it academically or in their other non-academic interests.

As such, our school may be on the path to helping students to live their potential if teachers continue to reinforce character development in their daily lessons.

Video 3- Our Future

This video highlights the urging concern for the future of our children due to various factors such as the rapidly changing technology and the need for sound education in this globalised world.

The onus is on the teacher and schools to prepare them for the 21st century with the literacy, numeracy, thinking, problem-solving, social and IT skills that will see them through to the future.
