You Tube - Clip 8
I think as teachers we are generally a helpful lot of people. We will lend a hand when someone is in a need of assistance whether they are people who we know very well or not.

Wow… that was a really inspiring clip. I think we have many teachers here who tries their very best to help their pupils to progress in their studies and understanding. Maybe their pupils do not got As or even Bs but a failure to a pass is a great achievement to some pupils. This is always a moral booster to the kid. We should always celebrate these achievements too.
As Bryan mentioned, his Calculus teacher helped him to build his self-confidence and that little act of hers managed to change his life.
Oh … I totally agree with the speaker that children must be taught the ‘Boundary’ of what can or cannot be done.
Need to show this to some of my friends. Especially those who think that the child is able to make a choice on their own and parents who give in to their children’s ‘whims and fancies’.
The video talks about the attitude of the teacher. I fully agree with the speaker. Each time we get to the classroom, no matter what mood we are in, it can really show in our interactions with the pupils. Since it is our chosen profession, I guess we should carry out our duty well enough so as to inspire and motivate those under our charge. Sometimes we get students who are not learning what we have been teaching all these while… I guess their talent lies somewhere else then …and we should accept that fact. We should focus on what we love at doing; the PASSION to teach and learn…it is contagious and hopefully it will spur the students’ interests at learning!
The video talks about students being in control. This obviously can happen if the students have the upper hand in the classroom; in terms of management of the classroom whereby they control the ambience and the mood and also in terms of content knowledge. In this age of technology, it is no longer the teacher that has the upper hand in knowledge. If the teacher subsumes a passive approach, then leadership with the pupils is lost. We need to facilitate and construct - teach pupils with whatever information they have.
